Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026
This policy describes what information is handled when you read thumbprojects.com, how the operator uses it and what choices you have. The operator is whoever runs Thumbprojects, and the words we and us refer to the operator.
Visit logs
The servers that deliver our articles on construction, urban planning and home improvement record routine logs. An entry may contain your IP address, the time of the visit, the page requested, your browser and device type and the referring page. We use this to keep the site online, to find broken pages, to block abusive traffic and to see in general terms which guides get read.
Cookies and similar tools
Thumbprojects may place cookies or use similar browser storage. Some keep pages working. Others, where switched on, count audiences, remember display choices, help serve advertising or note that a visitor arrived from our page at a hardware, tool or materials retailer so that an affiliate referral can be credited. Cookies set by outside parties are governed by those parties’ own policies.
Controlling tracking in your browser
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, browse privately or add extensions that limit tracking. If your browser sends a do-not-track or global privacy signal, we will honour it as an opt-out wherever the tools we use allow. Blocking certain cookies may change how some features look or behave.
Email and forms
When you write to [email protected], we receive your address and whatever you include, for example a description of a renovation question or a correction to a planning article. We use it to reply, to fix mistakes and to keep a record of the exchange. Your emails are never sold, and a question about your kitchen or your street will not be quoted on the site unless you agree first.
Newsletters
If a newsletter or sign-up form is offered, the details you give are used for that purpose, such as sending the updates you requested. Any issue will carry a way to stop receiving it, and a short email to us asking to be taken off the list works just as well.
Outside providers
Operating a site like this relies on other services. These may include hosting and content delivery, analytics, advertising and affiliate networks, and embedded items such as videos, maps or drawings. Such a provider can see technical details of a visit, such as your device and the page you opened, in order to deliver its part of the page, and what it does with that data is set by its own notices rather than ours.
How long information is kept
Visit logs are held for a limited period, after which they are erased or boiled down to anonymous traffic counts. Emails are kept for as long as they help us answer you, correct an article or meet a legal duty, then removed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may be entitled to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to certain uses or to withdraw earlier consent. Email [email protected] with your request. We may ask you to confirm your identity first and will respond within the period the law sets.
Children
Thumbprojects is written for adults and teenagers interested in building, planning and home projects, and it is not aimed at children under 13. We have no wish to gather details about young children and do not seek them out. A parent or guardian who believes a child has written to us can email the address above, and the message will be deleted.
Security
We take sensible measures to protect information, such as encrypted connections and restricted access to the inbox. No system connected to the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee complete protection.
Data crossing borders
The providers behind this site may process information in other countries, where the rules may differ from those where you live. When you read Thumbprojects, details of your visit can therefore be handled outside your own region.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, for instance by adding a new analytics tool or a new retailer partnership for tool and materials links, this page will be updated to match. The effective date above shows when the present version began, and continuing to read Thumbprojects after an update means you accept it.
